About Amped FM
Updated 02.11.10: Welcome to the Amped FM About Us page . Amped FM was created by ex radio broadcaster Rockin Rob, local dj Flash Thompson, and DJ DPA. We also had several investors who knew this project would be huge some day. Originally Amped FM started out with one mix station. This station quickly became the starting point for something much larger. The original concept was "we play it all" and (to be honest) the music genre was to broad. We loved the concept but going from Boy George to Megadeth was just to much for most listeners. Shortly after (due to differences and personal reasons) Flash Thompson left Amped FM. The ever growing tasks of running 5 radio stations fell on Rob and DPA. Our big break started when Apple iTunes wanted all 5 stations on their radio network. Apple is very selective with who makes the cut on their radio network. We were very excited about the listings but in a matter of hours our stations started to max out. We even received emails from other radio networks asking us "how did you get all your stations on iTunes". We knew at that moment we were doing it right. We also quickly realized the need for bigger and better servers. Rob searched high and low for dedicated servers and negotiated a great deal with a company. It takes a huge amount of time, research, and money to run Amped FM. We currently average over 225,000 unique listeners (and growing) every 30 days. This number grows every month and the need for more bandwidth, bigger servers, and more through put is greater the ever. The past several months have been amazing with regards to band submissions, record companies, and promoters. Big name bands & artists are starting to take a good look at Amped FM. You can expect new music on our stations before they are officially released, prizes/ giveaways, and exclusive interviews. None of this could of been done without the support of our listeners, investors, and pure determination from Rockin Rob and DJ DPA.
What's next? The Amped FM crew decided to take things to the next level. We are now working on our brand new server. This new gig port server can handle 10x more traffic so it will permit more listeners on the server at one time. Our biggest stations will get a huge boost. Our other stations will also get a boost. We are also working on a couple new Amped FM stations. Amped FM is in the process of forming a new partnership with a UK based company. This is great news for Amped FM and it's listeners. The Amped FM web site will be getting some upgrades, new community section, new chat room, Amped FM store, more prizes, and much more. We are also working close with http://www.ampedin.com. This web site is geared to music lovers, bands, artists, and other fans. You will be able to submit your music, vote, enter the Battle of the Bands contest, create an account and much more. The site is under construction. Amped FM does not own this site but we plan to collaborate with them in the future. We hope you are ready for all the updates that are about to take place. Please Note: The Amped FM station links will change once they are moved to the new server. The links you currently use will not work once that station is moved over to the new server. Thank you for your support and listening to Amped FM.

Listener Questions & Our Answers
-
Q: How many listeners do you really have guys? Brad in New YorkA: Hello Brad.. The last count I had was over 225,000 unique ip's logging in per month. That's as far as we can break it down here but we are guessing more then that. This is also across all of our stations. Country tops the list with 68,500 unique ip's loggin in. The other stations are not far behind as they loom around the 47-58,000 marks. To be honest we would have way more then that Brad. Since our stations fill up and are capped we will never know how many other listeners are trying to tune in but can't due to that station being full. Hope this helps.

Q: Hey Amp FM how did you start all this sh*t? Raff in OhioA: Uh it's Amped FM get it right (just kidding Raff) LOL. It all started with the pure love for radio and everything about it. Rockin Rob was a FM radio broadcaster for a local heavy metal radio station. Rob also got lined up with several other radio guru's to help with his quest. DJ DPA, Nate, Laurie, Dee, DJ Lex, Flash Thompson, and a few others. Amped FM started as 1 universal station playing all types of music on one station. We still have some of the original spots. We started small, figured out stuff, then started spreading the word, got on itunes radio network, and it took off from there. It takes a lot of work and the almighty dollar to roll these stations. So donate if you can. Great question Raff.
